The Methodist Church Norwich Circuit

In partnership with others where possible, the Methodist Church will concentrate its prayers, resources, imagination and commitments on this priority:

To proclaim and affirm its conviction of God’s love in Christ, for us and for all the world; and renew confidence in God’s presence and action in the world and in the Church

(Priorities for the Methodist Church)

All our churches and members should see their activities from the perspective of Mission. Where appropriate this will be alongside people from all over the world. The Norwich Circuit encourages the taking of risks in Worship, Learning and Caring, Service, and Evangelism. The Norwich Circuit will invest primarily in those projects, churches and areas where there is clearest potential.

Worship

In allowing God to occupy the very centre of all we do

In maintaining an appropriate worshipping presence open to all ages in centres of population

In exploring fresh expressions of worship in local churches, in homes, and in new areas

In encouraging our people to explore worship actively, and to be open to offering worship in different styles and at different times

Learning and Caring

In the mutual support and sharing we already offer in outreach through Christian love

In exploring and rediscovering of the true nature of the Methodist movement

In the central importance of pastoral care in the context of mission today

In developing Christian community, so that people can discover the true meaning of their relationships with each other and with God

Service

In developing teams of various kinds, ecumenical, formal and informal, to service the church and the world

In the offering of Servant-ministry to bring the love of Christ into new areas In supporting each other, particularly as regards property issues
In developing environmentally sensitive ways of being Church in the world

Evangelism

In discovering culturally appropriate means of evangelism

In finding appropriate ways of developing presence and work in the many new areas of housing in the Circuit

In raising the profile and influence of the Church in our communities, especially amongst children, young people, families and the elderly
